Q.
Can I Register with Deferred Payment?
A. Yes, you can email J
T Smith privately and make arrangements.
Full payment during our early bird period will save you up front.
Q.
Do I have a private room?
A. No. Registration includes shared lodging.
The Lodge has modern individual
themed sleeping rooms with various styled comfortable beds in each
room. We do
our best to match up personalities.
Q. If I cancel, can I be refunded?
A. After October 31, 2008 you are committing
yourself when you register.
Q. What is the
Photographer/Model Ratio?
A. We strive on at least a 2 photographer
to 1 model ratio.
Q. Will there be studio shooting?
A. Yes, studio lighting will be a huge
part of HTL X. We will have 4 to 5 studio set ups during our scheduled
shooting. Photographers may bring their own set ups as well.
Q. Will I be stuck in a situation where
everyone will be shooting the same shots as me?
A. You will have time with each
model individually. We pair up photographers so both can assist
and work from each other. It's scheduled out so each one will have
equal opportunity to photograph one on one. We stress no over the
shoulder shooting or gang or pass the sync chord type shooting.
Q What rights will I have to the images I shoot?
A.You can use all of the images for self promotional purposes
such as your website, portfolio and promo pieces.
Q. What equipment
do I need?
A. Whatever you like. You can shoot digitally, 35mm or medium
format. Whatever format you are most comfortable with. You should
bring Reflectors, a Tripod and accessories that you would take with
you wherever you go.
Q. Will any of the models be hanging around a few days before/after
the event/after scheduled event day times for modeling privately?
A. That will be up to each model individually and is not a part
of the event. You can ask each model during the event if she would
like to stay.
Q. Will you be sending out a more specific itinerary of events
to the participants closer to the event?
A. Yes, a schedule will be emailed out in advance, but that
schedule is subject to change without notice. Sometimes things beyond
control happen or better ideas come along so we try to be flexible.
Q. Am I required
to give the models prints/scans for their time?
A. Yes, two web size images is required this year, however photographers
should recognize the models efforts and reward them with at least
one high resolution image for their print portfolio. Photographers
and models are encouraged to communicate and continue to network
after the event is over with. . It is a great marketing tool for
the photographer to have models spreading their work around. The
models work very hard for you so we suggest you honor them in some
way. We suggest two of your best images of each model to be considered,
as previously mentioned. If you agree to send images/scans then
we recommend that to be delivered to the models 6 weeks after the
event. If you promise a model you will give prints/scans then you
must follow through with your verbal agreement with them. You and
the models are encouraged to exchange contact information.
Q. What will the shooting time versus instruction time be?
A. Since our educational seminars are packed on the first day
there is going to be plenty of time to shoot each model over the
course of the event. Professional Mentor Programs in the morning
each day while models are being prepped by our wonderful MUA staff
will allow a wonderful scheduled shooting time frame this year.
All times are divided up equally but certain things out of our control
may conflict with exact times for each model. Further instruction
will be available to you during your shooting time if
you request it. This will be a very hands on type of learning
environment or be left alone to shoot on your own.
Q. After I sign up, would it be possible to get email addresses
for the models?
A. Yes, generally a week after the event we organize a complete
contact list and email that to you of the photographers and models
attending. Also contact info will be listed in the program handed
out at opening ceremonies.
Q. What
type of other photographers will be at HTL IX?
A. This
event is open to people of all experience levels. The idea is for
experienced photographers and amateurs to be able to mingle and
work, play and share stories together in a fun and casual atmosphere.
Our mentors will be scheduled to work with groups and share their
knowledge.
